Bible Verses About Life (KJV) With a Prayer

Bible verses about life from the King James Version: abundant life, daily trust, and eternal life, with a short reflection and a prayer to pray today.

A Prayer for the Gift of Life

Lord God, giver of all life, I thank You for this breath and for this day. I did not earn it, and I cannot keep it by my own strength. It is Your gift.

Teach me to number my days with wisdom. Keep me from living in a rush, or in fear of tomorrow. Let me notice the people You have placed beside me, and love them while I can.

When life feels heavy, remind me that Christ came so that I might have life, and have it more abundantly. When I am tired or discouraged, show me the next small step on the path of life.

May what I do today, however ordinary, be offered back to You with a grateful heart. Amen.

Reading These Verses on Life

Scripture speaks about life in more than one way, and it helps to hear all of them together.

Life as a gift. Acts 17:28 reminds us that we live and move in God. Psalm 118:24 invites us to receive each day with gladness, and Psalm 90:12 asks for the wisdom that comes from knowing our days are numbered.

Life as a choice. In Deuteronomy 30:19 God sets before His people life and death, and asks them to choose life. Proverbs 3:5-6 shows what that looks like day to day: trusting the Lord rather than leaning only on our own understanding.

Life in Christ. In John 10:10, Jesus says He came to give life more abundantly. In John 14:6 and John 11:25 He speaks of Himself as the life. For Catholics, this is the life of grace, received in the sacraments and meant to last beyond death.

Life is short. James 4:14 is honest that our time is brief. It is not meant to scare us. It is meant to help us hold plans loosely, and to spend love and attention on what matters.

A simple way to pray with them: choose one verse each morning, read it slowly twice, and carry it through the day. At night, ask yourself where you noticed God's gift of life, then pray the prayer above.
