Night Time Prayer for Christians

Heavenly Father, another day has come to its close, and I bow my head before You in quiet gratitude. Thank You for the breath You gave me this morning, the strength to carry my tasks, and the small kindnesses that crossed my path even when I did not notice them at the time.

I bring to You now whatever I could not finish and whatever I got wrong. Where I spoke in haste, where I let worry crowd out trust, where I forgot to turn to You in the busyness of the hours — forgive me, Lord, and settle my conscience so I can rest without regret weighing on my chest.

Lord Jesus, You told Your disciples, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Let that peace be mine tonight, quieting every anxious thought before it has a chance to keep me from sleep.

Watch over my family as they close their eyes as well. Guard this home, guard our health, and guard our hearts against every fear that comes in the dark. Send Your angels to stand at the doors and windows, and let no harm draw near while we are unaware and unable to protect ourselves.

I remember Your promise in Psalm 4: "I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety." I hold onto those words now, Father, trusting that Your care for me does not pause when my eyes close.

Renew my body through rest, and when morning comes, wake me with a heart ready to love You and serve others again. Until then, into Your hands I commend my spirit, my family, and everything I hold dear. Amen.
