Morning Offering Prayer

A simple morning offering prayer, giving God the whole day — its work, its worries, and its small ordinary hours — before it begins.

Lord, before this day is spent, I offer it to You. All of it — the plans I have made and the ones that will fall apart, the work I am looking forward to and the work I would rather avoid.

I offer You my thoughts, that they would be kinder than they were yesterday. I offer You my words, that they would build up and not tear down. I offer You my hands and whatever they touch today.

Take the ordinary hours too. The commute, the dishes, the messages I need to answer, the waiting. Nothing is too small to place in Your hands, and I would rather give You the whole day than only the parts that feel holy.

If today brings joy, let me notice it and thank You. If it brings difficulty, let me carry it without bitterness, trusting that You are near even when I cannot feel it.

Help me to remember this offering when the morning is long behind me — when I am tired at three in the afternoon, or short with someone I love, or tempted to make the day about myself again.

Whatever comes, it is Yours before it is mine.

Amen.
